Internetwork
experts are the true
strength of the IT industry...
without us there would be no Internet.
My name is Joel
Barrett. I am a Channel Systems Engineer in the US Channels organization for
Cisco
Systems, Inc. I originally created the Atlanta Cisco Study
Group (ACSG) to get people together who were interested in pursuing Cisco
certifications. Our first meeting was June 3, 1998. The idea for the ACSG originally came from a MCSE
study group I created with the help of many other friends in 1997.
That study group "graduated"
many of its members to MCSE status. The ACSG is doing the same for engineers
working on Cisco certifications.
InternetworkExperts.net is a portal to manage all the
information associated with the ACSG.
If youre reading this you probably know it is
difficult to attain IT certifications, much less the highly coveted Cisco Certified
Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification. The CCIE certification is, without a doubt, the
most difficult to attain and highest paying certification in the IT industry. It takes at least two years of hands-on
work and a lot of serious studying to pass both the written and lab tests. Once passed though,
the opportunities for career advancement are incredible. About 75% of the Internet
runs on Cisco equipment and there is a huge demand for CCIEs.
My focus on Cisco certification is primarily due to the technical challenge
but Id be lying if I said I wasnt interested in the salary benefits that
accompany it. The way I figure it is this, "If you do what you love, the money won't
be far behind."
Thanks for your interest! If you still have questions please email me (
) for more
information, otherwise come to a meeting where they will be answered in person.
If you'd like to read more about me, please see my personal
website.
Access to InternetworkExperts'
website is free. There is no obligation to join and no prerequisites for
experience or knowledge pertaining to vendor products. We do require that you have an
intense desire to complete one or more of the vendor certifications that are now
available and you
must be willing to ask questions and participate in highly technical group
discussions and hands-on activities. Please sign-up for our email
lists to participate online.
As of August 2005, there is no longer
any cost to attend Atlanta Cisco Study Group (ACSG) study session. Please see our ACSG page for more information on
attending study sessions and then sign-up on our
discussion forum
or email
lists for updates.
When you signup for the list
services you'll have the opportunity to be involved with many
technical discussions about Cisco
certifications and technologies. Most of the discussions are about real-world
events happening in Network Operations Control centers and the
like, but there are also discussions on IT exams and
certification announcements. Join in today to find out more
for yourself! Just go to our
Discussion Forum or Email
List Services webpage to subscribe.
You get to spend over two hours every
session working on real Cisco or Microsoft
equipment. You really can "earn the knowledge" this
way. You also get to network with your peers who are working
on the same or similar certifications. You get group leaders
who are dedicated to helping you understand certification
requirements and technical issues involved in configuring and
supporting the products. Last, you get to have some fun working
with equipment where you can't crash a production
network.
